Craps

When you hear a crowd erupt in our casino, chances are it's coming from the craps table. A descendant of the ancient game of Hazard which dates back to the 12th century, Craps may seem complicated, but is surprisingly easy to learn and often attracts the most colorful players. The game also offers a singularly unique and entertaining gaming experience in which all players can win with a roll of the dice! And it's another reason why it's A Whole New Game at Three Rivers Casino & Hotel.

How to Bet and Win
Pass Line: A Pass Line bet is betting with the shooter (the player who rolls the dice). When the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the first (come out) roll, you win. However, if the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12, it's "craps" - and you lose. All other numbers - 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 - become the "point." You will win if the point is rolled again before 7.

Don't Pass Line: This bet is the reverse of the Pass Line. When the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the first (come out) roll, you lose. However, if the come out roll is 2 or 3, you win. A 12 is a "push" or tie. Again, when a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled, it becomes the "point" and you will win if a 7 is rolled before the point is repeated. You lose if the point is made before a 7 is rolled.

Come: The Come bet is made after a point has been established. When the shooter rolls a 7 or 11, you win. If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12, you lose. All other numbers - 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 - become the come bet's point. You will win if the come bet's point is rolled again before a 7.

Don't Come: Reverse of the Come bet and still made after the come out roll. When the shooter rolls a 7 or 11, you lose. However, you win on 2, 3. Again, 12 is a push. You win if a 7 is rolled before the come out point and lose if the point is rolled before a 7.

Proposition Bet: A one-roll bet decided on each roll of the dice. Any 7 pays 4-1. Any "craps" (2, 3 or 12) pays 7-1. Either 2 or 12 pays 30-1 and either 3 or 11 pays 15-1. The friendly Three Rivers staff member running the game places these bets for you.

Hardways: There are four possible Hardway bets. Hardway 4 (two 2's) and Hardway ten (two 5's) which pay 7-1. Hardway six (two 3's) and Hardway 8 (two 4's) each pay 9-1. Any other combination of these numbers or a 7 will make the bet a losing wager. For example, if a 6 rolls with a combination of a 4 and a 2, the Hardway bet is a loser.

Taking Odds: You may take odds in addition to your original "flat" bet (Come, Don't Come). The odds bet wins if your flat bet wins, and loses if your flat bet loses. The odds on a Pass/Come bet for a 4 and 10 and 2-1. For 5 and 9, it's 3:-2 and 6 and 8 it's 6-5. The odds bet on a Don't Pass/Don't Come bet for a 4 and 10 are 1-2. For a 5 and 9, it's 2-3, and 6 and 8 is 5-6.

Place Number Bets: You may bet on a 4,5 6, 8, 9 or 10. If the number you bet on is rolled before a 7 then you win. A place bet on the 4 and 10 pays 9-5. On a 5 and 9, it pays 7-5, and on the 6 and 8, it pays 7-6. Place number bets are OFF during a come out roll. These bets can be removed at any time.

Buy Bets: This is essentially the same as the Place Bet, only with a different payoff. You may "buy" any of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 which means you bet that the number will be rolled before a 7. When making a buy bet, you must pay a commission and you bet will pay true odds if it wins. Fair odds are 2-1 on the 4 and 10, 3-2 on the 5 and 9, and 6-5 on the 6 and 8.

Lay Bets: The lay bets may be placed on the 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. The bet itself is that a 7 will be rolled before the number you choose. Because the 7 is the most likely number to be rolled you will wager more than you can win. The Player must pay a 5% commission on the possible winnings and the true odds are paid on the bet itself. True odds are 1-2 on the 4 and 10, 2-3 on the 5 and 9, and 5-6 on the 6 and 8.

Field Bets: This is a one roll bet made on any roll. With a roll of 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11, you win even money. With a 2 or 12, you win 2-1.
